PSL’S NFL Power Rankings – Week 7

October 21, 2009

Four unbeaten teams remain. This week, there’s a new number one. Actually, only one team in the top five stayed at the same spot.

This week, the Saints showed that they’re the best team in the NFC, and maybe the whole league. The Titans were embarrassed and have now dropped to 30th. And just when the Bengals were getting close to the top five, the lost. They have, however, managed to stay in the top ten, coming in at number nine.

The Broncos have a bye this week, so there will be at least one undefeated team after week seven. Pittsburgh looks to get back into the top five as they take on the Vikings this week.

Despite their 2 wins, I’d put the redskins dead last on this list. With old faithful, Jim Zorn by their side, there’s no match-up they can’t screw up. I’ll be truly shocked if they win another game this season.

They’ve got too much talent to lose out, no matter who’s calling the plays. Last year we saw them get off to a hot start and collapse down the stretch. If somehow the o-line can come together we may see that reversed this year. I’m not predicting a winning record or anything, but they’ll scrape together a few wins and look respectable in the second half.

I hate to be the turd in the punch bowl, but didn’t the Broncos jump out to a big lead in the AFC West last year, too? I realize that beating the Chargers strengthened their hold on the division, but I’d say it’s too early to print playoff tickets in Denver.

I’m not saying they will definitely win the West, just pointing out that, with the way they’re playing, they should. They do have a tough schedule coming up (Ravens, Steelers, Giants, Colts, Eagles), but if they keep playing as well as they are, they can win 3 out of 5 of those games (I can see them beating Baltimore fresh off a bye, NY, and Philly). The worst they should finish is somewhere around 10-6/11-5. Unless, of course, they collapse.
